Winter Newsletter

Greetings Sisters of the Jersey Shore ;
Hope that you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with family and friends Did you all get a chance to catch our three marching Zeta's on tv Thanksgiving Day. Heather and Donna made great no U turn signs as did Erica in her railroad crossing. Once again, they managed to be on the TV cameras side of the float. I watched the parade with my eight year old niece, the only time she sat still and wasn't putting her feet in my face was when Heather, Erica and Donna were coming by. If you have Twitter and follow Donna and Heather, you would have gotten parade updates when they had time to update everyone. So I can't wait to our next meetings to hear and see pictures of the day.
Are you as tired as I am with leftovers already. For someone who doesn't like Turkey that much, I have a lot of it in my house. Some of my neighbors gave me some of their leftovers so I have enough turkey to get me though to Wednesday (YUCK).
Well we had a busy month of November. As I mentioned in our November 15th meeting reminder, we picked up two new members at our recruitment meeting. Thanks to Kristen and Patty for putting all that effort into the brouchures and getting them in the mail. I really feel that they are going to be great additions to our already awesome chapter. We also put together 48 exams bags for the young ladies at Kappa Nu.
Meeting
Our next meeting is probably our favorite meeting of them all. Our annual cookie exchange. Of course for some of us, it is because it is the one meeting tha Julie Lang can come to. Of course she has no choice since we take over her house. We also do our annual election. So think about what position you would like to be in the upcoming meeting. If you already have a position, please let us know if you want to stay in that position or not. A little reminder, we have no qualms with nominating some who is not there to a position if need be. Well actual most of the time we only do that for chair postions.. We also invited the Kappa Nu seniors to join us for the cookie exchange.
In most cookie exchanges, you are required to bake two dozen cookies. But here, we allow those who like me who are not allow to us an oven without adult supervision, we do allow store bought cookies. Bring two dozen cookies for eating, swaping and to take home.
Time: 7:00 pm to 10:00pm
Location: Julie's house 10 Slocum street , West Long Branch .
Did you know that the week of December 1st and December 7th is Cookie Cutter week? Also December 8th is National Brownie Day, so guess we picked the most perfect day to have our annual cookie exchange. Glad we didn't pick December 18th because that is wear a plunger on our head day. Guess we have to be thankful for the little things.
Sister News
We hear congratulations is in order for Amanda Dahl and her husband Corey. She is expecting her first child in March and we hear it is going to be another little Legacy
Happy Birthday to Kristen Nitti (December 17)
Other News
We hear that the new chapter at NY University is doing well and will be becoming a chapter soon.
Hopefully we will get the chance to be there at their initiation and installation ceremonies. If you haven't been to one or its been awhile since the last one, this is a good ceromony to witness. Make sure you have whites. We will keep everyone posted when we get the news. Could not believe the great weather we have been having this holiday weekend. When I was raking my leaves, I noticed that some of my annuals are starting to grow again.
Upcoming events
January - still TBD
Febuary 21 - Asbury Park Pinball Museam. all you can play vintage pinball machines.
March 6 - Business meeting to start planning and organizing our interalumnae LCR game. We will be inviting all the area alumnae chapters to come during us, we will be using it as a fundraiser, 50% will go to the Zeta Foundation and the winner of the night will take the other 50%.
March 24 - Zeta Day to be held at the Sheraton Hotel in Mahwah , NJ . The plans are for to carpool since it is a long distance and Zetas in this area is growing and parking spaces most like will be hard to find. . We will update everyone as we get more details. It is casual attire. So we don't have to worry if it what we are wearing is badge attire.
Since we will be hosting it again three years from now, we started our planning. Our theme will be Sailing away with ZTA. So we need to start looking for a place that can hold about 600 Zetas. We at the Jersey Shore like to be ahead of the game so we don't have to do it all a year.
April 22 - NY/NJ Alumnae Chapters get to together/Fund raiser. TBD. Any time we alum get together it is guarantee that a fun time will be had by all.
May 22 - Family Picnic at Monmouth Race Track. We are planning to take over a group of tables in the picnic area. We can bring in food and beverage so we can eat and if we choose to bet on the "ponies" . No big bets, but it's fun trying to be the Zeta who wins the most that day. Think the most anyone won in any year we have been their is $10 over all.
If we don't see you at our cookie exchange, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christma, Happy Kwanzaa, Happy WInter Solstice, and a very Happy New Year.
