Happy 4th of July!!! After a super easy flight Donna and I landed in New Orleans 20 Minutes early. After relaxing a bit we caught a streetcar down to Bourbon Street. The best way I can describe Bourbon Street to you is that its like a bar in the early 90s before they banned smoking. Even with it being open and outdoors it even smells like a bar!
We had dinner at Acme Oyster House- Shrimp étoufee and hush puppies and TONs of water (wow does that humidity kill!) The shrimp was delicious, spicy but not too spicy.
From here we walked down to the Mississippi, seeing what would be our hotel for the first time and settling in to see the fireworks. The "battle of the barges" is the US's 5th ranked fireworks display and I can see why!
Hope you enjoyed hearing about the first day in New Orleans…See you Tomorrow!
