Article I – Name
This organization shall be known as the Jersey Shore Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha
Article II – Object
The object of this organization shall be to promote the purposes and progress of the Fraternity, to foster the association of the local alumnae, and to cooperate with and assist Zeta Tau Alpha collegiate chapters.
Article III – Powers and Duties
The organization shall exercise all powers usually vested in such a body provided these do not conflict with the provisions set forth in the National Constitution and Bylaws and manuals of the Fraternity.
Article IV – Membership
Section 1. Membership in the Jersey Shore Alumnae Chapter shall be open to any local Zeta Tau Alpha alumna unless a national officer has advised the alumnae chapter that the member is not in good standing.
Section 2. The right to vote shall be accorded to every member who has paid dues for the current year.
Article V – Meetings
Section 1. There shall be at least five meetings during the year.
Section 2. One meeting each year shall be for the purpose of electing officers.
Section 3. A majority of the membership shall compose a quorum at any meeting.
Article VI – Officers
Section 1. The elective officers shall be president, vice president, vice president of membership, secretary, treasurer, and historian-reporter. These officers shall comprise the Executive Committee.
Section 2. Election of Officers
A. Nominations shall be those proposed and duly seconded by the membership at the regular December meeting.
B. Officers shall be elected at the December meeting.
C. Vacancies during the interim between annual elections shall be filled by appointment of the Executive Committee.
Section 3. Duties of the officers shall be those usually assigned to such officers in “Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised” and such other duties as specifically stated in the “Guide for Alumnae”.
Section 4. The term of office is for one year, beginning on January 1 and ending on December 31.
Section 5. No member may hold the same office for more than five consecutive terms.
Article VII – Standing Committee
Section 1. The standing committees shall be those needed to assist the Executive Committee in carrying out the programs and obligations of the chapter (such as: alumnae-collegiate relations, fraternity education, program, Panhellenic, service, fundraising, telephone, public relations and social).
Section 2. The committees shall be appointed by the President with the approval of the Executive Committee.
Section 3. Duties of the committees shall be those usually assigned to such committees in “Robert’s Rules of Order, Newly Revised” and such other duties as are specifically stated in the “Guide for Alumnae” or the chapter’s written guidelines for the committee chairman.
Section 4. The term of office is for one year, beginning on January 1 and ending on December 31.
Article VIII – Dues
Section 1. The annual local dues shall be an amount recommended by the Executive Committee and approved by the membership. For those members who are not Life Members, annual national dues shall be forwarded to the International Office.
Section 2. National operating fees and “birthday pennies” shall be included in the amount of the annual local dues and paid from the local treasury on behalf of each member.
Section 3. Dues shall be collected from all current members by October of each year and from all new members by the second meeting attended.
Article IX – Disposition of Funds and Possessions
Section 1. In the event that this organization shall cease operation, any funds held in the treasury shall be donated to the national fund of the Fraternity.
Section 2. In the event that this organization shall cease operation, any possessions of the chapter, including supplies – such as stationery, office supplies, party goods, candles, vases, etc. – shall be donated to another chapter of the Fraternity.
